Are you a program chairman for a local service club, veteran's organization, church group, scouting troop or other community organization? Are you looking for a new and different experience for your group's next meeting?
Amateur radio operators, often called "hams," are your neighbors, your colleagues at work, people you meet at the store. They come from all walks of life. Many of them have made their communication skills and equipment available to serve the both the community service and emergency communication needs of your community.
The DuPage County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) maintains a speakers bureau which serves to further its missions by providing timely and topical information to a number of wide reaching audiences focusing on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, amateur radio emergency communications, severe weather spotting and disaster preparedness. Most presentations are interactive and employ a variety of audio visual technologies. Presentations can also include "live" demonstrations of amateur radio equipment and communications operations.
For more information, or to arrange for a speaker, email us at speakersbureau@dupageares.org or contact the DuPage County ARES Emergency Coordinator, Kent TeVault at (630) 420-0428.
